Repaired Things

About/Submit

“Fixing is apparently the new buying.
Jenn Abelson of The Boston Globe

“After the revolution, who’s going to pick up the garbage on Monday morning?”
– Mierle Laderman Ukeles, Maintenance Art Manifesto

“Sly as a fox and twice as quick, there are countless ways of ‘making do’.”
– Michel de Certeau, The Practice Of Everyday Life

This blog is a collection of pictures of things that have been repaired. I am investigating how value is created and lost, how function can be enhanced or subverted, and how repurposed objects can shift from one role to another.

Some of these photos I have taken and some were submitted to me by others. If you have a repair to submit, please send jpegs to repairedthings@gmail.com. If you like, you can also include a caption: How did this object become broken? How was it fixed?
